Johnson hails Graham arrival
Sunderland winger Adam Johnson believes January arrival Danny Graham can help the Wearsiders push up the Premier League table.
The Stadium of Light outfit appear to be heading for a mid table finish after a shaky start to the campaign. Sunderland are currently 12th in the Premier League and eight points clear of the relegation places but European qualification looks out of reach.
Johnson believes boss Martin O'Neill is building a strong side at Sunderland and welcomed the arrival of Graham, who he hopes can form a formidable partnership with fellow frontman Steven Fletcher.
He told the Sunderland Echo: "I think Danny's a great signing for us.
"He's a quality striker and he just seems to have that knack of getting in the right place at the right time for when the ball drops in the area. He's here to score goals and I'm sure he will.
"You could see the effect he had when he came on in the game against Reading and from a winger's point of view, it's great to have someone to hit in the box.
"Sometimes when you're playing and you have two men around you and one striker in the box with two men around him it's difficult to do anything.
"But when all of a sudden you have two strikers in the box it can make a real difference."
Graham managed seven goals in all competitions for previous side Swansea in 23 appearances this season, although he was mainly restricted to chances from the bench due to the form of Michu at his former employers.
The striker made his Sunderland debut as a late substitute in the loss at Reading last time out but could be handed a start when Arsenal visit the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Graham is 11/4 to score at anytime against the Gunners, while Sunderland are 7/2 to take all three points.
