Leeds takeover over the line
After months of waiting Leeds United have finally seen their takeover completed with GFH Capital taking the reins at Elland Road.
Rumblings of a takeover at the West Yorkshire outfit started back in May and after a protracted process the Dubai-based bank has finally got a deal over the line, with chairman Ken Bates remaining in his role for the rest of the current campaign.
New board member Salem Patel believes exciting times lie ahead for Leeds but they will not be spending what he called “crazy money” on bringing new faces to the club.
He said: "Leeds United is a great football club with a great history, pedigree and a fantastic base from which we can build the club.
"Obviously it's going to take investment and we wouldn't have bought a club like this if we weren't prepared to make that investment.
"What we want to say is that we're not going to be spending crazy money like some owners have. We want to make the investment sustainable and make the club successful. Simple as that."
GFH Capital will begin the official rein at Elland Road when Leeds host Middlesbrough in the Championship on Saturday.
Manager Neil Warnock and the Whites are 7/4 to win, 23/10 to draw and 6/4 to lose to Boro.
