Morgan hails England resolve

England stand-in skipper Eoin Morgan has praised his side for their character following their six-wicket victory over India on Saturday.

India set a decent total of 177-8 in their innings at the Wankhede Stadium, which left the tourists with plenty of work to do.

However a strong start to England’s innings thanks to Michael Lumb (50) and Alex Hales (42) set up a superb chase from the visitors.

And it came down to Morgan to put the game to bed, as he struck a six on the final ball of the game with England needing three to win.

The skipper was delighted with the victory to finish the Twenty20 series all-square at one win a piece and hailed his side’s fielding display to claim the win on Saturday.

He said: "(The fielding) was outstanding. It's an area that we've looked at where we can be ahead of the game and save 10 or 15 runs each time, and today we were amazing.

"It was a hell of a game of cricket.

"It was a great pitch to be prepared for a Twenty20 game and both sides were in the game throughout the whole 40 overs, which was great to see."
